Travel to Greece with Melissa Hayes and Tracy Ensor of the Cooper Center from May 28-June 9, 2025. We will explore iconic antiquities and modern treasures through the lens of ancient rhetoric, storytelling, and myth and consider how this impacts our understanding of modern communication. We will start in Athens, commonly called the “cradle of civilization.” Highlights include a guided tour of the city, the Acropolis and Parthenon, the ancient Agora, Aristotle’s Lyceum. A Mediterranean cooking class and a beach day are also part of our time in Athens. Next, we will visit Corinth to follow the footsteps of St. Paul and explore the Temple of Apollo and enjoy the beautiful turquoise waters of the Gulf of Corinth. We will stop at the ancient city of Mycenae prominent in Greek mythology and inspiration to poets, writers, and artists through the centuries. In Olympia, we will visit the site of the ancient Olympics and tour the Museum of the History of the Olympic Games as well as the 5th century BCE architectural marvel of the Temple of Zeus.
