On a recent warm and sunny afternoon, the sounds of singing, cheering and clapping erupted from the backyard of a Nebraska Wesleyan theme house.

It was the place to be for a giddy bunch of Huntington Elementary School students who were there to celebrate their MVP Club and to say goodbye to their mentors.

Brent McKain of North Platte and Ana Burgers of Winslow were each awarded the 2011 Mathematics and Computer Science Senior Award.

Brandon Hollister of Hastings and Tyler Smith of Friend have each been named “outstanding psychology students.” The annual award recognizes the department’s top seniors.

Brad Gilligan of Fremont has been honored by Nebraska Wesleyan University’s Communication Studies Department.

Gilligan has been awarded the Kaye-Boatman Award for Outstanding Senior in the Communication Studies Department.

A celebration of life for longtime English professor Leon Satterfield have been scheduled for Saturday, June 18 at Nebraska Wesleyan University.

Satterfield died Tuesday, April 12 of complications of Alzheimer's Disease.
