Scholarships and Endowed Gifts
The endowment is a permanent, self-sustaining source of funding that the university can count on year after year. It provides a stable source of revenue and is vital to the future of the university.
How the endowment works
Your gift is invested each year, a portion of the earnings is used to fund scholarships, faculty, research, advance academic programs and more. The remainder is reinvested so that the endowment may grow for future generations.
What endowed funds support
Endowed funds can be established for almost any purpose at NWU. You can give to the general endowment or specifically support student scholarships, faculty or other programs at NWU.
Every year, more than 98% of our students receive scholarships and financial aid from the university. That’s possible only through the ongoing generosity of our alumni, parents and friends.
Endowed Scholarships
The threshold for establishing an endowed scholarship is $25,000 (may be funded in as many as five years) We’ll work with you to design a scholarship according to your wishes. You’ll know who receives your scholarship and, if you wish, we’ll facilitate opportunities for you to meet and interact with your scholars. To establish your own endowed scholarship, contact Mary Hawk director of development.
Each year, a portion of the earnings from endowed scholarship funds is paid out to support NWU scholarships. Any additional earnings are reinvested. This is how endowed funds can provide scholarship support to NWU students for generations.
A gift of $5,000 will fund an Access NWU Scholarship in your name or in honor of a loved one. Access NWU scholarships are for Nebraska students who are academically strong but have significant financial need. They are awarded to an incoming student. Contact Mary Hawk, director of development, about opportunities to fund an Access NWU scholarship.
A gift of $10,000 ($2,500 a year for four years) can create an Annual Scholarship in your name or in honor of a loved one. These scholarships support an individual student or students throughout their four years at Nebraska Wesleyan.
We welcome gifts of any size to the Archway Fund in support of scholarships for today's students.
