Hunter Reeves, a junior communication studies and Spanish major at Nebraska Wesleyan University, will spend the 2017-2018 academic year in Spain thanks to a Benjamin A. Gilman Scholarship.
Reeves, a graduate of Ogallala High School, will study at the University of Vigo.
“I looked at many places to study abroad but I kept coming back to Spain,” said Reeves. “I love different cultures and diversity so I’m incredibly excited to meet all of the other foreign students, gaining new friends from all over the world.”
The Gilman Scholarship is a nationally competitive program that assists students with study abroad expenses. The program aims to diversify the students who study and intern abroad and the countries and regions where they go. The scholarship is sponsored by the U.S. Department of State’s Bureau of Educational and Cultural Affairs.
Reeves is Nebraska Wesleyan’s 45th Gilman Scholarship recipient.
