Clay Johnson, best known as the co-founder of the firm that built and managed Barack Obama’s online campaign for presidency in 2008, will speak at Nebraska Wesleyan University.
Johnson’s lecture, “The Information Diet: A Case for Conscious Consumption,” will be held Thursday, November 29 at 1 p.m. in Olin B Lecture Hall.
In addition to leading Blue State Digital, Johnson was the director of Sunlight Labs at the Sunlight Foundation, where he built an army of 2,000 developers and designers to build open source tools to give people greater access to government data.
In his new book, “The Information Diet,” Johnson addresses healthy information consumption habits. According to Johnson, just as junk food can lead to obesity, junk information can lead to ignorance.
At NWU, Johnson will discuss the role that information has played throughout history and why following his prescribed diet is essential in today’s information age.
A book signing will follow his presentation.
Olin B lecture hall is located one block east of 50th Street and St. Paul Ave. The presentation is free and open to the public.
The presentation will also be webcasted on the university’s website.
