SECURITY ALERT: Scheduled maintenance operation

CSIT has scheduled a software maintenance operation for Friday (12/16) for the purpose of installing an urgent security patch to the campus Fortinet firewall.  We were alerted this week by Fortinet to a confirmed security exploit in the firewall software.  Because this exploit has actually been documented “in the wild,” Fortinet considers installation of their security patch to be urgent.

This maintenance operation will begin at 5:00pm on Friday (12/16) and is expected to require only about 10-15 minutes to complete.  However, during that period there will be an interruption to all campus Internet traffic, both incoming and outgoing.  Internet service will be restored as soon as the software installation is complete and the firewall is restarted.
