ALERT: Emergency maintenance scheduled for Tuesday (12/5) at 7:00pm

CSIT will be conducting an emergency maintenance operation on Tuesday (12/5) beginning at 7:00pm.  The maintenance involves updating firmware and performing a system reset on a UPS (Uninterruptable Power Supply) in the CSIT machine room.  Unfortunately, the UPS requiring maintenance is one of those which supports the operation of our production VMware cluster.

We do not expect any interruption of service during the approximately 30 minutes required, since there is a secondary UPS supporting the VMware cluster.  That said, any reduction in the power supplies supporting operation of the VMware cluster involves some potential risk of service interruptions, albeit minor, which warrants alerting the campus to this operation.

We will provide an update after the planned maintenance has been completed.
