UNMC Associate Vice Chancellor, NWU Alum Will Deliver Fetzer Science Lecture

Rodney S. Markin, Associate Vice Chancellor for Business Development and Chief Technology Officer at the University of Nebraska Medical Center will deliver the annual Fetzer science lecture on Tuesday, April 29.

Board certified in anatomic and clinical pathology, Markin’s professional and academic research interests have focused on solid organ transplantation, informatics and clinical laboratory automation, which include robotics, information systems, medical utilization management and outcomes optimization.

He founded LAB-InterLink, a technology transfer company of the University of Nebraska Medical Center that provided products for hospital-based laboratory automation systems.

He has 16 patents, more than 300 publications and has published nearly 200 abstracts and chapters in books. He is a reviewer for a variety of journals and serves on the editorial boards of six journals.

He graduated from Nebraska Wesleyan University in 1977 with a degree in chemistry, and went on to pursue a Ph.D. and M.D. from the University of Nebraska-Lincoln and the University of Nebraska Medical Center, respectively.

Markin's lecture, “A Retrospective Look: An Education at Nebraska Wesleyan University,” begins at 6 p.m. in Olin B Lecture Hall.

The Amos Fetzer and Alice Fetzer Memorial Lecture was established by Dr. W.R. Fetzer (’17) in memory of his parents. The lectureship is designed to bring to campus distinguished scholars in science, math, computer science, and the environment.
