A surgeon and musician who researches the way musical creativity works in the brain will deliver a lecture at Nebraska Wesleyan University on Thursday, March 7.
Charles Limb is an otolaryngologist at Johns Hopkins School of Medicine and a faculty member at the Peabody Conservatory of Music. Limb will deliver the lecture, “Building the Musical Muscle,” at 1 p.m. in Olin B Lecture Hall, located one block east of 50th Street and St. Paul Ave.
Limb’s current research focuses on the brains of improvising musicians and the parts of the brain that are involved in deep creativity, as well as the study of music perception in deaf individuals with cochlear implants. His work has been featured by National Public Radio, TED, National Geographic, PBS, and the New York Times.
Limb’s Nebraska Wesleyan lecture is free and open to the public. The lecture will be webcast live on the university's website.
