Spring Lectures Announced

Adam Earnheardt, an expert on social media and athletics, will kick off Nebraska Wesleyan University's lecture series.

Earnheardt, associate professor of communication at Youngstown State University, will deliver the annual Lambda Pi Eta Lecture on Wednesday, February 18 at 2 p.m. His lecture is titled, “#Winning: How (Pro)Social Media are Connecting Athletes, Teams and Fans." The free lecture will be held in Olin B Lecture Hall.

Other lectures scheduled this spring include:

  • March 4— Noon, Forum Lecture/Faculty Scholarship Presentation: Steve Wills, assistant professor of history, “Tokyo’s Burning: Fires, Firefighters and Fighting About Fire in the Shogun's Capital,” Olin B Lecture Hall.
  • March 9 — 7 p.m., William C. Kloefkorn Nebraska Writers Series: David Lee, Utah’s first poet laureate, Callen Conference Center.
  • March 11 — 7 p.m., Fetzer Memorial Lecture: Lawrence Krauss, foundation professor, School of Earth and Space Exploration, Arizona State University, "A Universe From Nothing — Why Is There Something Rather Than Nothing?" O'Donnell Auditorium.
  • April 17 — 2 p.m., Forum Lecture: Jackson Katz, author, filmmaker, founder of Mentors in Violence Prevention, Olin B Lecture Hall.
  • April 23 — 3:30 p.m., Holder Lecture: Joan Hughes, associate professor, Department of Curriculum and Instruction, University of Texas-Austin, Callen Conference Center. Hughes will discuss the use of iPads and their impact on literacy.
