Nebraska Wesleyan University’s Elder Gallery will feature the exhibit, “Restraint and Limitation,” October 23 through December 9.
The exhibit explores trends in contemporary abstract painting via three accomplished women including Anna Buckner of Indiana, Sharon Butler of Connecticut and Gianna Commito of Ohio. Their work, combined with other artists with Nebraska connections, will showcase varying stages of their careers.
The exhibition was curated by Matthew Ballou, associate teaching professor in the Department of Art at the University of Missouri.
A closing reception and curator talk will be held on Friday, December 7 from 5 to 7 p.m. Elder Gallery is located inside the Rogers Center for Fine Arts at 50thStreet and Huntington Ave. Gallery hours are 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday-Friday and 1 to 4 p.m. Saturday-Sunday.
