Nebraska Wesleyan University recognizes outstanding alumni

Nebraska Wesleyan University (NWU) has recognized some of its outstanding alumni who have demonstrated achievements and service consistent with the University’s vision for graduating students.

The “Legends and Legacies” ceremony honored the following individuals during NWU’s homecoming weekend on October 3.

Young Alumni Loyalty Award: Ashton Honnor (‘13) 

This award is given to an alumnus who has graduated within the past 20 years, which recognizes the individual’s involvement with, service to, and financial support of the University.

Alumni Loyalty Award: Kirk (’83) and Jo (Afrank) (’82) Kinberg 

This award which recognizes the individual’s involvement with service to and financial support of NWU.

Young Alumni Achievement Award: Alicia (Dallman) Shoemaker (‘09) 

This award is given to an alumnus, which recognizes the individual’s vocational achievement and community involvement.

Alumni Achievement Award: Jennifer Cognard-Black (‘91) 

An award which recognizes an individual’s vocational achievement and community involvement.

Young Alumni Humanitarian Award: Nate Pattee (‘09) 

An award given to an alumnus who has made a significant contribution to the status and well-being of others and who has been actively engaged in promoting human and social reforms that foster the alleviation of suffering, discrimination or injustice. It recognizes persons whose lives and actions have been devoted selflessly to serving others, without consideration of personal gain or risk, and whose influence and commitment have positively impacted the lives of persons locally, statewide, nationally or internationally.

Alumni Medal of Honor Award: Philip Mullin (’65)

An award given to an alumnus who embodies the ideals of NWU at the highest levels, especially through his or her service and regular financial support to NWU, the community and through his or her vocational achievement. Prior recipients of achievement, loyalty and young alumni awards may be considered.
