Nebraska Wesleyan University crowned Sarah Hotovy of York and Collin Shepherd of North Platte as its 2011 homecoming queen and king.
The college seniors were recognized during ceremonies held at the university’s annual homecoming weekend, September 22-25.
Hotovy is the daughter of Pat and Cheryl Hotovy. She is a triple major in political science, biochemistry and molecular biology. She has served as a mentor with the Guidance to Success Tutoring Program and currently serves as the program’s coordinator. She is active in Student Affairs Senate, the golf team, various vocal ensembles and student organizations. Hotovy has been named to several academic achievement lists and honoraries. This summer she was one of 10 students in the nation selected for the Freeman Indonesia Nonprofit Internship Program, which provided her the opportunity to spend nine weeks in Indonesia where she studied language and held an internship.
Shepherd is the son of Stuart and Rajean Shepherd. He is a communication and philosophy major and Spanish minor. He currently serves as president of the Senior Class Council, and is involved in Student Affairs Senate, New Student Orientation, NWU Ambassadors, and the Wesleyan Communication Association. He has been inducted into several honoraries and named to several academic honors lists. He has studied abroad in Estonia and several countries in Europe, South Africa and the Middle East. This summer Shepherd served as the National 4-H Council’s first international intern.

Ralston — Samantha Peters, daughter of Bernard and Paula Peters; pursuing major in music education.
Syracuse — Sarah Wellman, daughter of Steve and Susan Wellman; pursing a major in communication.
