An ordained minister from Michigan who works with LGBTQIA-identified college students will deliver Nebraska Wesleyan University’s Mattingly Visiting Distinguished Scholar Series lecture.
On Wednesday, October 10, Rev. Gail Simonds will present her lecture, “The Bible and Homosexuality: Queering the Good Book.” The presentation begins at 7 p.m. in Callen Conference Center.
Originally from the Detroit area, Simonds attended Michigan Technological University where she earned degrees in forestry. After completing her Ph.D. in soil science at South Dakota State University, she worked as a dairy farmer and forest research scientist.
Simonds returned to school in 2002, attending the Methodist Theological School in Ohio. After graduation and ordination, she returned to Michigan to work with LGBTQIA-identified college students. She also teaches transitional math and biology courses at Bay de Noc Community College.
Simonds’ lecture is free and open to the public. Callen Conference Center is located on the lower level of the Smith-Curtis Administration Building.
