Five students from Austria and Germany will study at Nebraska Wesleyan University next fall.
Their enrollment is a result of the many campus visits made by Travis and Karla Jensen.
Karla, associate professor of communication, and Travis, faculty and curriculum coordinator and director of Lincoln Advantage, spent the 2008-2009 academic year in Austria. Among their many academic endeavors, the couple traveled to many International Student Exchange Program (ISEP) partner universities in Germany and Austria promoting Nebraska Wesleyan University as an exchange option for the foreign students.
Their work in Austria and Germany has earned the Jensens the 2010 White Award for Internationalization, which was awarded at the University’s annual honors convocation on May 7.
The White Award for Internationalization seeks to recognize those individuals who have furthered the internationalization of the NWU campus, its curriculum, its students and faculty. The awards exists to honor John and Marty White for their many years of service to NWU.
In addition to their college visits, the Jensens represented Nebraska Wesleyan in Greece last fall where they attended a conference on experiential learning. They presented on the many ways NWU promotes and rewards experiential learning and how it helps NWU students grow academically and personally.
