The Sandhills Global Youth Complex selected Joe Fagler (‘01), a former Nebraska Wesleyan University baseball player, as its inaugural director. The complex will be the future home of NWU’s baseball and softball programs.
“Joe was chosen from an extensive pool of highly qualified candidates. His lifelong love and engagement with baseball began with his involvement in the Babe Ruth Baseball League in 1992 here in Lincoln,” says Charlie Colón, board chair for the Sandhills Global Youth Complex. “We couldn’t be more excited to have Joe as our complex director.”
Fagler will oversee all complex operations, including facility scheduling for local, regional, and national tournaments, local youth programming, and marketing. He will begin his new role on July 17.
He played four seasons of baseball for NWU and then held numerous youth coaching positions throughout the city. He is currently an assistant baseball coach at Lincoln Southwest High School.
The complex will have seven turf fields and will be the future home of NWU baseball and softball once construction wraps up in the spring of 2025. NWU student-athletes will help provide local youth baseball and softball instruction and programming at the complex.
