A Nebraska Wesleyan University education professor has been awarded the “Exemplary Teaching Award.”
Jennifer Lorenzen, assistant professor of education, was recognized November 8 with the award, which is presented annually by the Division of Higher Education of the Board of Higher Education and Ministry of the United Methodist Church.
Lorenzen was honored for her excellent teaching and presentation skills, including her presentation to LAS instructors on cooperative and engaged learning. Her nominators also noted her devotion to a value-centered education and her work on multicultural education and education for students with special needs.
Lorenzen serves on several University committees and is active in her community where she serves on the Raymond Central School Board and is a fixture in her church where she has served as board chair.
Lorenzen is a member of the Nebraska Advocacy Services and Values-Based Education Consortium, which she has hosted on campus.
The “Exemplary Teaching Award” is presented to those who demonstrate excellence in teaching, civility and concern for students and colleagues, commitment to value-centered education, and service to students, the institution, the community or church.
Nominations are sent to the Faculty Development Committee, which makes a recommendation to the provost.
Lorenzen has taught education at Nebraska Wesleyan since 2008.
