Nebraska Wesleyan University will screen the documentary "Komora: To Heal." The film follows orphan survivors of the 1994 Tutsi genocide in Rwanda and the people who stepped in to raise them.
The documentary screening will be held Wednesday, April 9 at 7:30 p.m. in Callen Conference Center.
The film will be followed by a discussion with Emmanuel Habimana, a law student and genocide orphan. Habimana teams up with Natalia Ledford, an independent filmmaker from Lincoln. As Natalia narrates the story, Emmanuel takes them throughout Rwanda and halfway around the world as he interviews his peers, family, heroes, and former killers. From them he hopes to learn what survival means when some must share their communities with killers.
